After mass shootings over the weekend in El Paso, Texas, and Dayton, Ohio, President Donald Trump on Monday tweeted he would like to combine the thorny legislative issues of immigration reform and gun control. "Republicans and Democrats must come together and get strong background checks, perhaps marrying this legislation with desperately needed immigration reform. We must have something good, if not GREAT, come out of these two tragic events," he said over his two tweets. The Democratic-controlled House and the Republican-controlled Senate have not agreed on even a broad approach to tackling either of those two issues.
