Feb 19, 2019 (Contify via COMTEX) -- Feb. 18 -- China National Aviation Corp issued the following news release:
Air China opened the Beijing-Shenzhen-Johannesburg direct flight on January 3. Based on the previous Beijing-Johannesburg route, it added Shenzhen as a transfer hub. This is Air China's first flight via Shenzhen en route to Africa, a significant measure for Shenzhen to build and improve its international network and a solid move for Air China to further optimize its network in South China. By then, it will only take 13.5 hours to fly from Shenzhen to the southernmost part of Africa to begin a glamorous journey in Africa.
In recent years, Shenzhen Special Economic Zone has expanded its "circle of friends" in international trade and economic cooperation by hosting key international exhibitions and engaging economic and trade activities, to create a new international trade and economic exchange platform aimed at countries along the "Belt and Road". The opening of the Beijing-Shenzhen-Johannesburg route will serve as an "air bridge" between Shenzhen and Africa, providing a more convenient access for the established business engagement between the enterprises of South Africa and Shenzhen, and reenergize the economic interactions between the two areas. It will also help promote the economic and trade exchanges and in-depth cooperation between South Africa and Shenzhen, better align the "Belt and Road" initiative with Africa, and accelerate the mutually beneficial collaboration between China and Africa to achieve win-win for both regions.
The flight number is CA867/8, departure date is every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday, and the return date is every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. The flight takes off from Beijing at 18:50 local time, arrives in Shenzhen at 22:20, then departs Shenzhen at 00:10 the next day, and arrives in Johannesburg at 07:55 local time.
