Altria Group Inc. /zigman2/quotes/208895754/composite MO +0.62% disclosed Friday that Chairman and Chief Executive Howard Willard has contracted the COVID-19 virus and will take a temporary medical leave of absence. The cigarette maker said Chief Financial Officer William Gifford will assume Willard's roles until he returns from his leave. Separately, the company said late Thursday that it was temporarily suspending operations at its Richmond manufacturing center for an expected period of two weeks. Altria said its PM USA unit has sufficient cigarette inventory for about two months based on current estimates of shipping volume. The stock slipped 0.3% in premarket trading. It has lost 18.6% over the past month through Thursday, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average /zigman2/quotes/210598065/realtime DJIA -0.07% has declined 31.3%.
