Behind declines for shares of American Express and Dow Inc., the Dow Jones Industrial Average is slumping Monday afternoon. The Dow (DOW:DJIA) was most recently trading 767 points (2.8%) lower, as shares of American Express (NYS:AXP) and Dow Inc. (NYS:DOW) have contributed to the blue-chip gauge's intraday decline. American Express's shares have dropped $6.20 (6.0%) while those of Dow Inc. are down $2.90 (5.8%), combining for a roughly 60-point drag on the Dow. Also contributing significantly to the decline are 3M (NYS:MMM) , Caterpillar (NYS:CAT) , and Honeywell International Inc. (NYS:HON) . A $1 move in any of the index's 30 components results in a 6.58-point swing.
