Beyond Meat stock rallies, after adding sausage links to its plant-based meat lineup

Shares of Beyond Meat Inc. /zigman2/quotes/211617595/composite BYND +1.46% rallied 2.6% in premarket trading Thursday, after the plant-based meats company introduced Beyond Breakfast Sausage Links in grocery stores nationwide. The links are designed to have the same taste and texture as pork sausage links, but have not GMOs, bioengineered ingredients, synthetic colors, hormones, antibiotics or cholesterol. The links mark the fourth new retail product launch of 2020, adding to its Beyond Breakfast Sausage Patties, Cookout Classic and Beyond Meatballs. "With demand for plant-based breakfast options continuing to rise and more of us eating breakfast at-home, we knew the segment was ripe for innovation," said Chief Marketing Officer Stuart Kronauge. The stock has soared 150.2% year to date through Wednesday, while the S&P 500 /zigman2/quotes/210599714/realtime SPX +1.11% has gained 5.8%.
