The UEFA Champions League is coming to CBS All Access, as ViacomCBS Inc. (NAS:VIAC) has made a deal to livestream all matches from the elite European soccer league through August 2024, according to multiple reports late Wednesday .
The deal takes effect next month, with CBS All Access streaming all Champions League and Europa League matches. Select matches will also air on CBS and cable’s CBS Sports Network.
“This is a landmark acquisition for CBS as we add the world’s most popular sport to our extensive portfolio of marquee properties,” Sean McManus, chairman of CBS Sports, said in a statement.
A price for the deal was not disclosed.
CBS All Access also has rights to stream NFL games and other live sports. The soccer deal further bolsters the content offerings from the streaming service, which is being revamped to include more programming from the ViacomCBS family of networks. The bulked-up version is expected to debut in 2021.
ViacomCBS’s Class B shares are down 45% year to date, compared to the S&P 500’s (S&P:SPX) 1.8% decline.
