BEIJING-China's exports rose 5% in 2019 from a year earlier in yuan terms, while imports increased 1.6% on year, according to official data released on Tuesday.

China recorded a trade surplus of 2.92 trillion yuan ($423.6 billion) in 2019, the General Administration of Customs said.

In December, the country's exports rose 9.0% on year in yuan terms and imports increased 17.7% on year, the customs bureau said.
