De Blasio quits 2020 presidential race

New York Mayor Bill de Blasio announced live on MSNBC's "Morning Joe" program that he is ending his pursuit of the Democratic presidential nomination, saying he will support the candidate who emerges victorious from the party's primaries. He has not, he said, given any thought to endorsing a particular former intraparty rival. He said speculation about a a split within the Democratic Party is overdone. "Whoever is the nominee, I'm going to be there for them," he said. De Blasio has consistently polled in the low single digits and this week was below 1% in the Real Clear Politics polling average.
