EasyJet founder requests to remove two directors

By Anthony O. Goriainoff

EasyJet founder Stelios Haji-Ioannou said Wednesday that he sent a second request to directors to call a vote of all shareholders to remove two directors from the company's board.

Mr. Haji-Ioannou said unless this vote is called without further delay, he will increase his request to add more directors to be removed.

On Monday, Mr. Haji-Ioannou said he was seeking to remove Chief Financial Officer Andrew Findlay from the board as that was the best way to halt the airline from going ahead with its 4.5 billion euros ($4.89 billion) Airbus aircraft order.

In response, easyJet said, "holding a general meeting would be an unhelpful distraction from tackling the many immediate issues our business faces."

The budget airline said Friday that it had rejected a requisition notice from easyGroup Holdings Ltd. to call a general meeting, prompting Mr. Haji-Ioannou to call for the removal of two directors.
