Global markets were shaky for the second straight day on Friday as investors fretted over plunging currencies in developing markets such as the Turkish lira. Emerging-market currencies are caught in the worst selloff since the financial crisis. In the U.S., stocks were lower Friday morning, while Treasury yields continued to fall, pushing bond prices higher.

  • The pullback in Treasury yields during this week's risk-off bout has caught many traders by surprise. Investors came into 2014 very bearish on bonds, and the consensus view is that yields will continue to rise this year. Chris Kimble takes a look at the technical and sentiment situation in Treasuries.

  • Josh Brown opines on the long-awaited correction in stocks: "This overly sensitive, emotionally fragile condition is an unhealthy one," he writes. "It ought to be rectified fairly quickly should the slide extend from here. I hope it does. People need a reminder that they aren't geniuses nor are they promised immediate gratification from every investment they make."

  • In Davos, Robert Shiller says bitcoin "is a bubble, there is no question about it."

  • Volatility is picking up and market correlations are falling, and that could actually be a good thing for active managers in pursuit of alpha.

  • J.P. Morgan /zigman2/quotes/205971034/composite JPM -1.75%  chief Jamie Dimon set to get a raise after bank hit with billions of legal settlements.

  • Juniper Networks /zigman2/quotes/207361368/composite JNPR -1.32%  rallies after reporting quarterly results and news that activist hedge fund Jana Partners has taken a big stake in the company.
