European stocks open higher, led by Unilever, Daimler

European stocks (STOXX:XX:SXXP) opened higher on Thursday after a mixed session in Asia. Unilever (AMS:NL:UNA) shares surged after reporting profit growth in the first half of the year, and Daimler (FRA:DE:DAI) rose after as the loss-making vehicle maker said it's seeing the first signs of recovery from the coronavirus pandemic, especially at Mercedes-Benz passenger cars. U.S. stock futures (CME:ES00) edged higher after the latest results from Microsoft and Tesla.
