Givaudan SA said Wednesday that sales rose in the first quarter, recording a solid growth across all segments and geographies.

The Swiss flavor-and-fragrance company said quarterly sales came to 1.62 billion Swiss francs ($1.67 billion) from CHF1.53 billion in the previous year period.

The fragrance division registered sales of CHF745 million, a 6.3% increase on a like-for-like basis. The rise was driven by strong volume increases in consumer products, according to the company.

Sales in the flavor division came in at CHF874 million from CHF848 million a year earlier, recording a good performance across all regions and customer groups.

"The good growth was achieved across most product segments and geographies, with particularly strong performance in household and personal care segments within the fragrance division, as well as in packaged foods, savory, snacks and nutraceuticals in the flavor division," Givaudan said.

The company said it was able to maintain its operations and global supply chain with minimal disruptions during the coronavirus health emergency.
