Jacobs Engineering beats profit, revenue views

Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. reported profit rose 17% on higher sales and lower expenses in the second quarter.

For the quarter ended March 29, the Dallas-based professional-services company earned $56.9 million, or 41 cents a share, compared with $48.6 million, or 34 cents a share, for the same period last year. Analysts polled by FactSet were expecting earnings of 87 cents a share.

Excluding items, Jacobs made a profit of $1.19 a share. Analysts expected adjusted earnings of $1.09 a share.

Revenue rose 7.7% from a year ago to $3.09 billion. Analysts expected $3.05 billion.
