Churchill Downs Inc. /zigman2/quotes/205054336/composite CHDN +1.36% said Tuesday that it has rescheduled the 146th Kentucky Derby to Sept. 5, 2020, from an initial data of May 2. The racing, betting and gaming entertainment company said the rescheduled date was contingent on approval from the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission, which it expects to receive on March 19. The stock edged up 0.2% in morning trading. The company also said the 146th Kentucky Oaks will be rescheduled to Sept. 4 from May 1. "Throughout the rapid development of the COVID-19 pandemic, our first priority has been how to best protect the safety and health of our guests, team members and community," said Chief Executive Bill Carstanjen. "As the situation evolved, we reached the difficult conclusion that we needed to reschedule. At no point did we ever consider canceling the Kentucky Derby." The stock has plunged 53.4% over the past month, while the S&P 500 /zigman2/quotes/210599714/realtime SPX +0.36% has lost 28.0%.
