Kirkland's partners with Ryder for in-home delivery

Home retailer Kirkland's Inc. (NAS:KIRK) announced Wednesday that it has partnered with supply chain and transportation company Ryder Inc. (NYS:R) to provide in-home delivery service. The first test of the service launched in June in 25 markets and will be available in the lower 48 states by the end of July. The service will be available on select items. Delivery along with "light" assembly and removal of packaging will cost customers a flat rate of $149 per order. Customers who want to use the service must make an appointment; multiple items in the same order will be scheduled for in-home delivery during the same slot. Someone age 18 or older must be home to receive the delivery. Walmart Inc. (NYS:WMT) and Amazon.com Inc. (NAS:AMZN) also offer in-home delivery service. Kirkland stock has plunged nearly 73% for the year to date. Ryder shares are down 13.5% for the period.
