Republican Sen. Ben Sasse of Nebraska is expected to retire in order to become president of the University of Florida, according to multiple published reports on Thursday. The university said in a news release on Thursday that its Presidential Search Committee has "unanimously recommended United States Senator Dr. Ben Sasse as the sole finalist for consideration by its Board of Trustees who will select the 13th president of the University of Florida." Sasse said in a tweet that "UF is the most important institution in the nation's most economically dynamic state," and he's "excited about the wide range of opportunities."
