UPS plans to hire 100,000 workers to cover the busy holiday period.

Trying to cover holiday expenses, save a little extra or maybe just spend less time with the family? Enter: the seasonal side gig. Retailers are expected to hire as many as 650,000 workers to meet holiday demand this November and December, and wages are expected to top $15 per hour, a 32% increase over last year.

Walmart /zigman2/quotes/207374728/composite WMT -1.98% isn’t among the businesses that are hiring—in favor of offering additional hours to current employees—but plenty of others are. Here’s where you can apply.

Amazon

With plans to hire at least 100,000 seasonal workers, the e-commerce giant is a “prime” spot for a variety of jobs , from sorting and delivering packages to personal shopping through Amazon /zigman2/quotes/210331248/composite AMZN +2.70% Prime Now. Starting Nov. 1, all U.S. employees will earn at least $15 an hour.

FedEx

Online shoppers keep FedEx /zigman2/quotes/203047719/composite FDX +0.01% workers very busy in November and December, so the company’s adding  55,000 employees for the holiday crunch. According to PayScale averages, you can expect about $14 per hour.

Gap Brands

Are your T-shirt folding skills on point? Consider falling into the Gap, /zigman2/quotes/201996496/delayed DE:GAP +0.07% which is hiring about 65,000 seasonal associates in stores, call centers and distribution centers across its family of brands, including Gap, Banana Republic, Old Navy and Athleta. Bonus: Part-time associates will receive a 50% discount at Gap, Banana Republic and Old Navy, with 25% off at Athleta and 30% at the outlets.

JCPenney

The mall stalwart is looking to add 39,000 workers for the holiday season, from warehouse workers to cashiers and beauty consultants for in-store Sephora locations. Workers can also score a discount of up to 25%, and are eligible to participate in the JCPenney’s incentive program (provided you stay with the company through December 29). Eight randomly drawn associates will also receive vacations or other prizes worth $5,000. Find out about jobs available near you  here .

Kohl’s

On October 26-27, Kohl’s /zigman2/quotes/210414114/composite KSS +9.46% is hosting in-person hiring events, as it aims to recruit 90,000 seasonal associates to service its stores, plus distribution, fulfillment and credit centers. Once you’re hired, you’ll receive an immediate 15% discount that climbs to 35%, both in-store and online, later in the season. Special Associate Shop days will offer even more savings. Macy’s

The department store brand is hiring about 80,000 workers for its Macy’s, /zigman2/quotes/201854387/composite M +4.57% Macy’s Backstage and Bloomingdale’s locations, as well as in call, fulfillment and distribution centers. Seasonal employees are eligible to participate in the quarterly bonus program, payable when stores hit certain goals. Search locations and complete an application  here .

Target

If red’s your color, you’ll fit right in as one of the 120,000 seasonal employees Target /zigman2/quotes/207799045/composite TGT -0.30% plans to hire this year. Positions include cashiers and backroom, food service, stock and sales associates, as well as positions in its fulfillment and distribution centers—and will pay at least $12 per hour. You’ll also get a 10% discount on all merchandise, plus 20% off certain health and wellness categories.

Target has also designated $2 million in rewards for seasonal workers as part of its worker appreciation program. One randomly selected hourly worker from each store and distribution center will receive a $500 gift card and a $500 donation to the nonprofit organization of their choice. United Postal Service (UPS)

From package handlers to drivers, seasonal positions are bountiful at UPS, /zigman2/quotes/201245396/composite UPS +0.02% as the company plans to hire 100,000 workers to cover the busy holiday period. UPS is known for one particularly appealing benefit: Most locations provide up to $25,000 in education assistance (even for part-time workers) that can be used toward college, technical or trade school.
