Norway's central bank hikes interest rates

Departing from the international trend, Norway's central bank on Thursday hiked interest rates by a quarter point to 1.5%. "Growth in the Norwegian economy remains solid, and capacity utilisation is somewhat above a normal level. This suggests in isolation a higher policy rate," the central bank said. It did note that foreign interest rates were low and there is "considerable uncertainty" surrounding global growth prospects. The Norges Bank did however slightly lower its policy rate forecast.
