Nvidia Corp. /zigman2/quotes/200467500/composite NVDA -2.20% shares rose Thursday on reports the chip maker received a long-awaited green light from regulators in China for its acquisition of Mellanox Technologies Ltd. . Nvidia shares rose as much as 6.5% Thursday and were last up 5.3% at $295.75, while the PHLX Semiconductor Index /zigman2/quotes/210598361/realtime SOX -1.51% was up 2.1%. Nvidia announced its plan to acquire Mellanox for $6.9 billion more than a year ago and has been waiting on Chinese antitrust approval to seal the deal.
