Persimmon PLC said Friday that it will begin a phased re-opening of its construction sites from Monday in light of the U.K. government's intention of getting the construction industry back to work.
The U.K. home builder said that recently it has only completed the construction of homes in limited instances to ensure no customers would be left homeless.
The London-listed company said cancellation rates have remained at historically low levels and that it closed 820 gross private sales reservations online in the five weeks ended April 19.
"Persimmon's strong financial liquidity has enabled us to maintain our operational capability through this period by supporting all our colleagues on full pay, which will allow us to reopen sites swiftly, and emerge from the shutdown well-prepared and ready to deliver the new homes the country needs, aided by our strong work in progress position," Chief Executive David Jenkinson said.
