Persimmon PLC said Thursday that it will reopen sales offices from May 15 after the U.K. government announced the reopening of the English housing market on May 13, and that it had sold over 1,300 homes over the lockdown period.

The home builder said it will reopen sales offices and show homes with strict social distancing measures, after its sales team worked remotely over the lockdown period relying on virtual viewings and digital reservations. Persimmon began a phased return to work in England and Wales on April 27, and in the week beginning May 4, production had returned to 65% of pre-quarantine capacity.

Persimmon said in the eight weeks to May 10, it secured 1,351 gross private sales reservations, with a total of 1,300 legal completions over the period. Cancellation levels remain in line with historic trends.

Persimmon added that it hadn't accessed any government support schemes, and it hadn't furloughed any employees, but kept all staff on full pay during the crisis to retain talent.
