Former White House press secretary Sarah Sanders at a briefing in June 2018.

Former White House press secretary Sarah Sanders is joining Fox News as a contributor, becoming the latest ex-Trump administration official to join the organization.

The network and Sanders, who left the White House in June after two years, announced Thursday she had been signed to the role. Sanders said her first appearance would be Sept. 6 on the “Fox & Friends” program.

President Donald Trump often approvingly cites anchors and guests who appear on Fox programs — though he has recently criticized the network over unfavorable poll results. He said Sunday he didn’t believe a poll that showed him losing against four Democratic presidential primary candidates .

When Sanders announced her departure Trump said he thought she would be a “fantastic” governor of Arkansas if she decides to run for that job.

Two other former Trump aides are now with Fox. Hope Hicks, who was White House communications director, is executive vice president and chief communications officer for Fox Corporation. Raj Shah, former White House deputy press secretary, joined Fox Corporation as a senior vice president in July.

It isn’t unusual for high-level figures to join the media after leaving administration service, or even go from the media to the White House.

George Stephanopoulos, ABC News’ chief anchor, served as communications director in President Bill Clinton’s White House. Jay Carney, who was press secretary for former President Barack Obama, joined the White House from Time magazine.
