U.S. stocks ended modestly higher Thursday, boosted after a round of generally upbeat corporate earnings and a tentative agreement by U.K. and European Union leaders on the terms of Britain's exit from the European Union. The Dow Jones Industrial Average /zigman2/quotes/210598065/realtime DJIA +1.36% ended a choppy session with a gain of around 26 points, or 0.1%, near 27,028, while the S&P 500 /zigman2/quotes/210599714/realtime SPX +0.58% gained around 8 points, or 0.3%, near 2,998. The Nasdaq Composite /zigman2/quotes/210598365/realtime COMP +0.10% finished near 8,157, up around 33 points, or 0.4%. Shares of streaming company Netflix Inc. /zigman2/quotes/202353025/composite NFLX -1.42% rose 2.5%, while banking giant Morgan Stanely /zigman2/quotes/209104354/composite MS -0.71% advanced 1.5% following earnings.
