The S&P 500 /zigman2/quotes/210599714/realtime SPX -0.48% was down 51 points, or 1.3%, to 3,798. The Nasdaq Composite /zigman2/quotes/210598365/realtime COMP +0.56% shed 202 points, or 1.5%, to 13,434. The Fed is expected to commit to its accommodative policy stance to support the U.S. recovery. In company news, Microsoft /zigman2/quotes/207732364/composite MSFT +1.48% shares were up slightly after its results topped analyst expectations.
