The Dow Jones Industrial Average /zigman2/quotes/210598065/realtime DJIA -0.58% ended lower in the final half-hour of trade Tuesday, reflecting a sharp pullback from intraday highs from a market that has been attempting to rebound from brutal losses in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak. The Dow ended 26 points, or 0.1%, at 22,653, but had been as high as 23,617, a more than 937-point advance. The S&P 500 index /zigman2/quotes/210599714/realtime SPX -0.21% closed down 4 points, or 0.2%, at 2,659, while the Nasdaq Composite Index /zigman2/quotes/210598365/realtime COMP -0.46% ended off about 26 points, or 0.3%, at 7,887 after the technology-laden index enjoyed a 2.9% gain at Tuesday's peak. Stocks had been buoyant on the back of growing signs that the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic may be leveling off in parts of the world.
