Frontier Air quarterly loss narrows; rev rises

(7:54 PM ET) SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Frontier Airlines Inc.late Thursday reported a fiscal third-quarter net loss of $10.3 million, or 28 cents a share, vs. a net loss of $11.1 million, or 31 cents a share, last year. Excluding certain items, the company's loss was 25 cents a share. Analysts polled by Thomson First Call had estimated a loss of 19 cents a share. Revenue rose to $247 million from $208.2 million. The Denver-based airline said it expects breakeven results in its fiscal fourth quarter.

Gander Mountain updates 4Q, FY05 outlook

(7:07 PM ET) SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Gander Mountain Co.said after the closing bell on Thursday it expects fiscal fourth-quarter pretax income of $21 million to $22 million and revenue of $275 million to $280 million. Comparable same-store sales are expected to decline by 7% to 8% in the quarter, the St. Paul, Minn.-based specialty retailer said. For fiscal 2005, the company forecast a pretax loss of $13.5 million to $14.5 million and revenue of about $800 million. Comparable store sales are expected to decline about 6% for the full year.

Emulex quarterly profit rises

(6:58 PM ET) SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Emulex Corp.late Thursday reported fiscal second-quarter net earnings of $17.2 million, or 19 cents a share, vs. $14.2 million, or 16 cents a share, last year. Excluding items, earnings came in at 28 cents a share vs. 21 cents last year. Revenue rose to $110.3 million from $91.7 million. Analysts polled by Thomson First Call had forecast earnings of 29 cents a share on revenue of $110.9 million. The company expects fiscal third-quarter earnings of 17 cents to 18 cents a share, or 27 cents to 28 cents a share, excluding items, on revenue of $106 million to $108 million. Analysts are looking for earnings of 28 cents a share on revenue of $111.9 million.

Microsoft results draw muted optimism from analysts

(6:39 PM ET) LOS ANGELES (MarketWatch) -- In an initial reaction to Microsoft Corp.'s /zigman2/quotes/207732364/composite MSFT +2.86% fiscal second-quarter results, issued after the close of trading, Goldman Sachs analyst Rick Sherlund said the results were "pretty much in line" with expectations. "Overall, we feel they did OK and the stock may breathe a sigh of relief," Sherlund said in a research note published just after the results were released. He rates the stock outperform. Elsehwere, analyst Adam Holt at J.P. Morgan told clients he expects Microsoft shares to have a "neutral to positive" reaction to the financial scorecard. However, Holt said that "investors here should be focused on the fiscal 2007 impact of the [new] product releases." Holt rates the stock overweight.

Robert Half International quarterly earnings, revenue jump

(6:29 PM ET) SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Robert Half International Inc. /zigman2/quotes/209666445/composite RHI +0.89% after the closing bell on Thursday reported fourth-quarter net earnings of $64.6 million, or 37 cents a share, compared with $49.7 million, or 28 cents a share, during the same period a year ago. The Menlo Park, Calif.-based provider of staffing and consulting services posted revenue of $884.8 million vs. $754.2 million. Analysts polled by Thomson First Call had forecast fourth-quarter earnings of 37 cents a share on revenue of $879 million.

Packeteer quarterly income rises

(6:25 PM ET) SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Packeteer Inc.after Thursday's closing bell said fourth-quarter net income was $9.1 million, or 26 cents a share, compared with $5.69 million, or 17 cents a share, during the year-earlier quarter. The networking company said pro forma per-share income was 28 cents, compared with 17 cents last year. Packeteer said quarterly revenue was $31.9 million, compared with $26.2 million last year.

Massey Energy swings to loss on charges; rev up 15%

(6:23 PM ET) SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Massey Energy Co.late Thursday reported a fourth-quarter net loss of $211.8 million, or $2.76 a share. The quarter included an after-tax charge of $216.2 million related to the company's recent debt repurchase and exchange offers. Excluding special items, the company earned $3.1 million. In the same period last year, the company earned $1.4 million, or 2 cents a share. Revenue at the Richmond, Va.-based coal company rose 15%, to $517.9 million from $452.3 million. The company said 2006 sales commitments currently total 46 million tons. For 2007, sales commitments total 34 million tons.

Millipore quarterly earnings fall; revenue rises almost 14%

(6:14 PM ET) SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Millipore Corp.after the closing bell on Thursday reported fourth-quarter net earnings of $1.02 million, or 2 cents a share, compared with $24.8 million, or 49 cents a share, during the same period a year ago. Pro forma earnings were 62 cents a share for the quarter. Revenue at the Billerica, Mass.-based bioscience company rose by 13.7% to $256.3 million from $225.4 million. Analysts surveyed by Thomson First Call had forecast fourth-quarter revenue of $251 million.

Mentor Graphics 4Q profit down, ups '06 pro forma EPS view

(5:57 PM ET) SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Mentor Graphics Corp.after the closing bell Thursday reported fourth-quarter net earnings of $15.4 million, or 19 cents a share, down 2.5% from $15.8 million, or 20 cents a share, a year ago. Earnings on a pro forma basis were $35.6 million, or 42 cents a share. Revenue came in at $221.3 million compared with $214.9 million. The semiconductor design products maker raised its 2006 pro forma earnings forecast to 55 cents a share, and sees revenue of $755 million and net earnings of 18 cents a share. Mentor Graphics also sees first-quarter pro forma results breaking even on a per-share basis and a net loss of 6 cents on revenue of $170 million. In addition, the company said it has cut positions and reduced costs in its intellectual property business.

Eastman Chemical lifts profit, misses expectations

(5:47 PM ET) SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) - Eastman Chemical Co. /zigman2/quotes/200039202/composite EMN -2.13% reported late Thursday fourth-quarter net income of $66 million, or 81 cents a share, up from $54 million, or 68 cents, a year ago. Revenue for the three months ended Dec. 31 totaled $1.73 billion, up from $1.66 billion in the year-ago quarter. Analysts polled by Thomson First Call expected the Kingsport, Tenn.-based company to earn $1.14 a share on $1.77 billion in revenue. Eastman Chemical shares closed ahead of the report at $52.32, up 42 cents for the day.

Chartered Semi swings to quarterly profit

(5:32 PM ET) SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Chartered Semiconductor Manufacturing Ltd.after the closing bell on Thursday reported fourth-quarter net earnings of $24.1 million, or a penny a share. During the same period a year ago, the Milpitas, Calif.-based semiconductor company reported a net loss of $26.8 million, or 11 cents a share. Earnings per American depositary share were 8 cents, compared with an 11-cent-per-ADS net loss a year ago. Analysts surveyed by Thomson First Call had forecast fourth-quarter earnings of 5 cents a share on revenue of $366 million.

Varian Semiconductor quarterly income falls

(5:29 PM ET) SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Varian Semiconductor Equipment Associates Inc.after Thursday's closing bell said fiscal first-quarter income was $22.3 million, or 59 cents a share, compared with $28 million, or 75 cents a share, during the year-earlier period. The company added that quarterly revenue was $160.9 million, compared with $148.4 million last year. Looking forward, Varian expects second-quarter per-share income will be 28 cents to 38 cents, with pro forma results between 40 cents and 48 cents. Analysts polled by Thomson First Call are looking for per-share earnings of 44 cents.

Broadcom forecast Q1 sales $865M-$875M

(5:21 PM ET) SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Broadcom Corp.late Thursday forecast first-quarter revenue in the range of $865 million to $875 million, well above Wall Street's estimate of $759 million, according to analysts polled by Thomson First Call. If the sales hit the mid-point of the target, the company's revenue would surge 58% from the first quarter of 2004. In a conference call, Broadcom said demand is strong for its wireless chips used in high-speed broadband gear and consumer electronic devices.

Compuware quarterly profit, revenue drop

(5:20 PM ET) SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Compuware Corp. /zigman2/quotes/207299604/composite CPWR -14.41% after Thursday's closing bell reported fiscal third-quarter net earnings of $37.7 million, or 10 cents a share, down 9.6% from $41.7 million, or 11 cents a share, a year ago. Total revenue fell 7.5% to $305.9 million from $330.5 million last year. Revenue from software license fees also fell, to $83.3 million from $99 million. Analysts surveyed by Thomson First Call expected the Detroit-based information technology software maker to post a per-share profit of 10 cents and revenue of $310 million. Compuware said it made organizational changes aimed at improving sales, but doesn't plan any layoffs.

PerkinElmer gains on divestiture of aerospace business

(5:19 PM ET) LOS ANGELES (MarketWatch) -- PerkinElmer /zigman2/quotes/203769792/composite PKI +1.84% said after the close Thursday that fourth-quarter net income was $187.8 million, or $1.45 a share, compared with $37.9 million, or 29 cents a share, for the same period a year ago. Sales for the Boston-based health sciences firm were $387.7 million, compared with last year's $411.6 million. Excluding gains from the sale of its aerospace business and various charges, the company would have reported earnings of 36 cents a share. Analysts polled by Thomson First Call expected the company to earn 35 cents a share. PerkinElmer shares ended trading Thursday up 55 cents, or 2.4%, to $23.35.

Bebe quarterly earnings rise slightly

(5:13 PM ET) SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Bebe Stores Inc. /zigman2/quotes/209257234/composite BEBE +5.78% after Thursday's closing bell said fiscal second-quarter net income was $25 million, or 27 cents a share, compared with $24.3 million, or 26 cents a share, during the year-earlier period. Analysts polled by Thomson First Call had expected per-share earnings of 26 cents. Bebe, the clothing retailer, said quarterly revenue was $167.9 million, compared with $152.6 million during the same period last year. Analysts were looking for quarterly revenue of $170 million. Bebe added that in fiscal 2006, it expects to open 35 stores, expand or renovate 16 existing stores, and close three stores. Total capital expenditures for the year are expected to be $34 million.

DeVry quarterly profit doubles; rev rises 7.9%

(5:13 PM ET) SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- DeVry Inc.after Thursday's closing bell reported fiscal second-quarter net earnings of $10.8 million, or 15 cents a share, vs. a restated $4.66 million, or 7 cents a share, last year. Revenue rose 7.9%, to $209.9 million from $194.5 million. Analysts polled by Thomson First Call had estimated revenue of $203 million. DeVry is a higher education company based in Oakbrook Terrace, Ill.

Integrated Device Technology swings to quarterly loss

(5:10 PM ET) SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Integrated Device Technologyafter the closing bell on Thursday reported a fiscal third-quarter net loss of $42.3 million, or 21 cents a share. During the same period a year ago, the San Jose, Calif.-based semiconductor company reported net earnings of $3.35 million, or 3 cents a share. Pro forma earnings were 14 cents a share for the quarter. The company posted revenue of $160.8 million vs. $95.7 million. Analysts polled by Thomson First Call had forecast third-quarter earnings of 12 cents a share on revenue of $159 million.

Avid Technology quarterly earnings fall

(5:06 PM ET) SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Avid Technology Inc. /zigman2/quotes/204571941/composite AVID +0.83% after Thursday's closing bell said fourth-quarter net income was $18.4 million, or 43 cents a share, compared with $22.5 million, or 61 cents a share, during the year-earlier period. Avid, a Tewksbury, Mass.-based digital media company, said pro forma per-share income was 69 cents, compared with 64 cents last year. Analysts polled by Thomson First Call had expected per-share earnings of 72 cents. Avid said quarterly revenue was $245 million, compared with $175 million last year. Analysts were looking for quarterly revenue of $246 million.

PortalPlayer 4Q profit more than doubles; rev jumps 75%

(5:01 PM ET) SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- PortalPlayer Inc. /zigman2/quotes/203157296/composite PLAY -2.57% after Thursday's closing bell reported fourth-quarter net earnings of $23.8 million, or 92 cents a share, up from $10.5 million, or 50 cents a share, last year. Excluding stock-based compensation charges and an $8.6 million benefit, the company earned $15.9 million, or 62 cents a share. Analysts polled by Thomson First Call were looking for earnings of 48 cents a share. Revenue at the San Jose, Calif.-based maker of semiconductor and software platforms for multimedia products rose 75%, to $78.2 million from $44.7 million. Analysts had forecast revenue of $74 million. The company expects first-quarter earnings of 28 cents to 38 cents a share, or 35 cents to 45 cents a share excluding stock-based compensation charges, on revenue of $70 million to $80 million. Analysts are expecting a first quarter per-share profit of 36 cents a share on revenue of 64 million.

Hartford quarterly net income drops 24%

(4:54 PM ET) SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Hartford Financial Services /zigman2/quotes/207281914/composite HIG -2.33% said late Thursday that fourth-quarter profit dropped 24% on the cost of last year's hurricanes and a run-in with regulators. Net income came in at $474 million, or $1.53 a share, vs. $620 million, or $2.08 a share, a year earlier, the insurer reported. Core earnings, a new profit measure introduced by the company that excludes most investment gains and losses, were $505 million, or $1.63 a share, down from $597 million, or $2 a share, a year ago, Hartford added. Hartford was expected to make $1.81 a share in the period, according to an analyst survey by Thomson First Call. Core earnings for 2006 are expected to be between $8.20 a share and $8.50 a share, the company said. That forecast is unchanged from guidance issued on Dec. 12, apart from the company's decision to recast results to include core earnings, Hartford added.

Leggett & Platt profit drops 31%

(4:48 PM ET) SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Metal furnishings and bedspring manufacturer Leggett & Platt Inc. /zigman2/quotes/206009340/composite LEG -1.11% reported late Thursday fourth-quarter net income of $45.3 million, or 24 cents a share, down 31% from $65.6 million, or 33 cents, a year ago. Revenue for the three months ended Dec. 31 totaled $1.34 billion, up 4.5% from $1.28 billion in the year-ago quarter. Analysts polled by Thomson First Call expected the Carthage, Mo.-based company to earn 26 cents a share on $1.27 billion in revenue. Leggett & Platt shares closed ahead of the report at $23.97, up 34 cents for the day.

Genworth Fin'l 4Q rev edges higher, backs '06 op EPS view

(4:43 PM ET) SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Genworth Financial Inc. /zigman2/quotes/204924015/composite GNW +1.62% after Thursday's closing bell reported fourth-quarter revenue of $2.66 billion, up from $2.64 billion a year ago. The quarterly net and operating income results the company reported on Jan. 20 were unchanged at $307 million, or 64 cents a share, and $300 million, or 62 cents a share, respectively. The Richmond, Va.-based insurance holding company reaffirmed its 2006 forecast for operating earnings of $2.65 to $2.75 share. Analysts surveyed by Thomson First Call currently expect Genworth to report 2006 earnings of $2.75 a share on revenue of $11.2 billion.

Openwave Systems quarterly profit rises threefold

(4:42 PM ET) SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Openwave Systems Inc.after Thursday's closing bell reported fiscal second-quarter net earnings of $8.44 million, or 11 cents a share, vs. $1.87 million, or 3 cents a share, in the year-ago period. Excluding items, the company earned $19.3 million, or 22 cents a share, compared with $5.8 million, or 8 cents a share, last year. Revenue at the Redwood City, Calif.-based software company rose to $104.5 million from $103.3 million. Analysts polled by Thomson First Call were looking for revenue of $104 million. The company forecast fiscal third-quarter earnings of 18 cents to 20 cents a share, excluding items, on revenue of $110 million to $113 million.

Affiliated Computer quarterly earnings rise

(4:41 PM ET) SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Affiliated Computer Services Inc.after Thursday's closing bell said fiscal second-quarter net income was $103.2 million, or 81 cents a share, compared with $96.1 million, or 73 cents a share, during the year-earlier period. Analysts polled by Thomson First Call had expected per-share earnings of 80 cents. The Dallas-based technology outsourcing company said quarterly revenue was $1.35 billion, compared with $1.03 billion last year. Analysts were looking for revenue of $1.31 billion. Affiliated Computer added that its board has approved a "Dutch Auction" tender offer to buy up to 55.5 million shares of its Class A stock at a price per share not less than $56 and not greater than $63. Affiliated Computer said the quantity of shares proposed to be purchased represents 45% of the company's outstanding stock.

Stryker quarterly earnings rise

(4:33 PM ET) SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Stryker Corp. /zigman2/quotes/207664662/composite SYK +0.67% after Thursday's closing bell said fourth-quarter net income was $185.7 million, or 45 cents a share, compared with $162.7 million, or 40 cents a share, during the year-earlier period. Analysts polled by Thomson First Call were looking for per-share earnings of 48 cents. The medical products company said quarterly revenue was $1.28 billion, compared with $1.16 billion, last year. Analysts were looking for revenue of $1.29 billion. Looking ahead, for 2006 the company expects earnings per share of $2.02, with analysts looking for $2.09. The company added that it expects 2006 sales to increase in the range of 11% to 14%. Analysts are looking for revenue growth of 13%.

Federated Investors' quarterly earnings up 61%

(4:31 PM ET) SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Federated Investors Inc.said Thursday that fourth-quarter earnings rose 61% as the mutual-fund company's money market assets climbed sharply from a year ago. Pittsburgh-based Federated reported income from continuing operations of 48 cents versus 30 cents a year ago. Income from continuing operations was $51.8 million versus $32.3 million in the year-earlier period. Average assets under management, a key measure of fund-company performance, were $210.1 billion in the quarter, compared to $208.1 billion in the prior quarter and $178.9 billion in the year-ago period. Federated reported its results after the closing bell Thursday. In the daytime session, shares rose 44 cents to $39.22, reaching a new 52-week high.

Celestica quarterly loss narrows; issues 1Q outlook

(4:29 PM ET) SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Celestica Inc. /zigman2/quotes/208427519/composite CLS +1.08% after the closing bell on Thursday reported a fourth-quarter net loss of $28.2 million, or 12 cents a share, compared with a net loss of $809.7 million, or $3.59 a share, during the same period a year ago. The Toronto-based electronics contract manufacturer posted revenue of $2.08 billion vs. $2.33 billion. Adjusted net earnings for the quarter were $29 million, or 13 cents a share, compared with $43 million, or 19 cents a share, a year ago. Analysts polled by Thomson First Call had forecast fourth-quarter earnings of 14 cents a share on revenue of $2.02 billion. Looking ahead, the company expects first-quarter adjusted earnings of 4 cents to 12 cents a share on revenue in the range of $1.8 billion to $2 billion.

McKesson Corp. third-quarter net income surges

(4:26 PM ET) SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- McKesson Corp. /zigman2/quotes/206975466/composite MCK +1.12% reported third-quarter net income of $193 million, or 61 cents a share, compared with $144 million, or 49 cents a share a year ago, excluding litigation charges. Analysts had been expecting the company to make 53 cents a share. McKesson also raised its full-year guidance for earnings from continuing operations to a range of $2.41 to $2.46 a share, excluding litigation charges.

KLA-Tencor profit falls; sales top target

(4:22 PM ET) SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- KLA-Tencor Corp. /zigman2/quotes/209248041/composite KLAC +3.72% reported its fiscal second-quarter net income fell to $77 million, or 38 cents a share, down from $122 million, or 61 cents a share, in the year-earlier period. The latest results included stock-option expenses of $25 million. Sales fell to $488 million from $533 million, but exceeded Wall Street's target of $469 million. Based in San Jose, Calif., KLA-Tencor makes tools that help test for defects during the chipmaking process. It is the nation's second-largest chip-equipment maker.

Microsoft profit rises 5.5% as revenue gains 9.4%

(4:22 PM ET) LOS ANGELES (MarketWatch) - Microsoft Corp. /zigman2/quotes/207732364/composite MSFT +2.86% late Thursday said its fiscal second-quarter profit rose 5.5% as revenue increased 9.4% on demand for its software used to power PCs and corporate servers. Microsoft said it earned $3.65 billion, or 34 cents a share, up from $3.46 billion, or 32 cents a share, a year ago. Revenue at the world's largest software company rose 9.4% to $11.84 billion from $10.82 billion. Wall Street analysts, on average, expected the Redmond, Wash.-based company to earn 33 cents a share on revenue of $11.96 billion for the period that ended Dec. 31, according to a Thomson First Call survey. Microsoft issued a financial outlook for the current quarter and year that was in line with current estimates.

Western Digital reports $104.3 million second-quarter profit

(4:19 PM ET) SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Western Digital Corp. /zigman2/quotes/204213617/composite WDC -0.57% on Thursday reported a second-quarter profit of $104.3 million, or 47 cents a share, on revenue of $1.1 billion. During the same period a year ago, the hard-disk drive maker earned $56 million, or 26 cents a share, on $955 million in revenue. Excluding stock-option expenses, Western Digital earned $108.4 million, or 49 cents a share, to beat the estimates of analysts surveyed by Thomson First Call, who forecast a profit of 37 cents a share on revenue of $1.06 billion.

VeriSign fourth quarter sales rise

(4:19 PM ET) SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- VeriSign Inc. /zigman2/quotes/205260150/composite VRSN +1.69% reported fourth-quarter revenue Thursday that rose 14% from the same period last year. Net income for the quarter came in at $271 million, or $1.06 a share, compared to a profit of $114.8 million, or 21 cents a share, for last year. Revenue for the period was $392.1 million compared to $342.9 million last year. The company said its profit excluding certain items, including a one-time net gain of $252 million, was $94 million, or 26 cents a share. Analysts were expecting profits of 26 cents a share on revenue of $391 million, according to consensus estimates from Thomson First Call. VeriSign shares closed up 7.5% to $22.71 before the market close.

Affymetrix net drops, but beats forecasts

(4:16 PM ET) LOS ANGELES (MarketWatch) -- Affymetrix Inc.said after the close Thursday that fourth-quarter net income was $24.8 million, or 35 cents a share, compared with $27.1 million, or 41 cents a share, for the same period a year ago. Sales were $111.5 million, compared with $107.7 million a year ago. Analysts polled by Thomson First Call expected the company to earn 30 cents a share during the quarter. Affymetrix shares ended the day up $1.02, or 2.6%, to $40.15.

Broadcom profit, sales soar; results top estimates

(4:15 PM ET) SAN FRANCISCO (Marketwatch) -- Broadcom Corp.reported fourth-quarter net income of $194.8 million, or 50 cents a share, up from $71.1 million, or 20 cents a share, in the year-earlier quarter. Sales rose 52% to $820.6 million. That topped Wall Street expectations, as analysts projected Broadcom would earn 44 cents a share on revenue of $778 million. Based in Irvine, Calif., Broadcom makes wireless chips for cable modems, digital televisions, video recorders, digital-cable boxes and mobile-phone headsets. Separately, it also announced 3-for-2 split of its common stock.

Foundry Networks quarterly profit rises 23%

(4:13 PM ET) SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Foundry Networks Inc.after Thursday's closing bell reported fourth-quarter net earnings of $20.6 million, or 14 cents a share, up 23% from $16.7 million, or 12 cents a share, in the year-ago period. Revenue at the San Jose, Calif.-based networking company rose to $116.1 million from $104.8 million. Analysts polled by Thomson First Call had forecast earnings of 11 cents a share on revenue of $111 million.

SanDisk Corp. earnings rise 72%

(4:04 PM ET) SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- SanDisk Corp.on Thursday reported a fourth-quarter profit of $134 million, or 68 cents a share, on $751 million in revenue. The flash-memory developer exceeded its results from a year ago, when it earned $78 million, or 42 cents a share, on $549 million in revenue. The flash-memory developer exceeded its results from a year ago, when it earned $78 million, or 42 cents a share, on $549 million in revenue. SanDisk also beat the estimates of analysts surveyed by Thomson First Call, who forecast a profit of 62 cents a share, on revenue of $727 million.

Catalina Marketing shares sell off after 3Q earns shortfall

CORRECT: Rockwell Collins quarter up, '06 outlook boosted

(9:36 AM ET) SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) - Rockwell Collinson Thursday said that its fiscal-first quarter earnings rose 16% to $104 million, or 59 cents a share. The Cedar Rapids, Iowa-based company reported quarterly revenue of $881 million, up from $763 million. The Thomson First Call consensus analyst forecast projected a profit of 56 cents a share and revenue of $866 million. For fiscal-year 2006, the company forecast a 10 cent a share higher earnings range of $2.55 to $2.65 a share, citing cash flow and government-related work. Revenue for the fiscal year should be in a range of $3.8 billion to $3.9 billion, it said. (Corrects increase in fiscal-year 2006 forecast.)
