Mellanox Technologies quarterly profit triples
(5:18 PM ET) SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Mellanox Technologies Ltd. /zigman2/quotes/202453629/composite MLNX +0.35% late Wednesday reported fourth-quarter net earnings of $3.84 million, up from $1.3 million during the year-ago period. Net income attributable to ordinary shareholders was $433,000, or 4 cents a share, compared with nil, or breakeven on a per-share basis, last year. Pro forma earnings were $4.1 million compared with $1.4 million last year. The maker of silicon chips for Internet video and other applications posted total revenue of $15.8 million vs. $12.2 million. Gross margins for the quarter were 75% vs. 68% a year ago. Mellanox is headquartered in Santa Clara, Calif., and Yokneam, Israel.
Hurray! Holding quarterly profit falls; revenue up
(5:10 PM ET) SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Hurray! Holding Co.'s [s:HRAY] fourth-quarter net income fell to $1.57 million, or 7 cents an American depositary share, from $3 million, or 13 cents an ADS, a year earlier. Total revenue for quarter ended Dec. 31 rose 6.3% to $17 million, from $16 million. For the first quarter, the wireless-music distributor expects revenue between $15 million and $16 million.
Metabolix 4Q Losses 59c/Share Vs 78c
(5:08 PM ET) SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch)--Metabolix Inc.reported its fourth quarter loss widened to $7.5 million from $2.3 million a year earlier. Loss per share decreased to 59 cents a share from 78 cents a share, primarily due to higher shares outstanding from its initial public offering in November. The Cambridge, Mass., biotechnology company said revenue fell to $357,000 from $707,000.
Flamel Technologies quarterly loss narrows; revenue rises
(4:58 PM ET) SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Flamel Technologies SAlate Wednesday reported a fourth-quarter net loss of $5.86 million, or 25 cents a share, compared with a net loss of $6.45 million, or 28 cents a share, during the year-ago period. The French biopharmaceutical company posted revenue of $7.78 million vs. $6.26 million. Analysts polled by Thomson Financial had forecast a fourth-quarter loss of 37 cents a share.
Alon USA Energy fourth-quarter net falls
(4:48 PM ET) SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Alon USA Energy Inc.'sfourth-quarter net income decreased to $22 million, or 47 cents share, from $29.7 million, or 64 cents share, a year earlier, on lower production at its Big Spring refinery. Excluding special items, net income was 56 cents a share. The Dallas refiner of petroleum products said net sales for the period ended Dec. 31 increased to $920.2 million from $682 million.
Central European Distribution issues 2007 outlook
(4:40 PM ET) SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Central European Distribution Corp.late Wednesday said it expects 2007 earnings of $1.50 to $1.66 a share on revenue of $1.05 billion to $1.1 billion. Analysts polled by Thomson Financial are currently forecasting 2007 per-share earnings of $1.58 on revenue of $1.07 billion. The Polish distributor of alcoholic beverages also said it sees the expansion of gross margins to 21.5% and organic sales growth of 12%.
TiVo loss narrows
(4:40 PM ET) CHICAGO (MarketWatch) -- Digital video recorder pioneer TiVo Inc. /zigman2/quotes/200576022/composite TIVO +2.58% said Wednesday that its fourth quarter loss narrowed from the prior year, as revenues rose sharply on increased licensing of its technology. TiVo said it lost $18.7 million, or 19 cents a share, compared with a loss of $21.1 million, or 25 cents, in the year-earlier quarter. Service and technology revenue climbed 22% to $57.4 million. Analysts polled by Thomson Financial were expecting a loss of 36 cents a share on service and technology revenue of $54.9 million. The company added 163,000 gross TiVo-owned subscriptions in the fourth quarter, well below the 221,000 gross additions forecast by Kaufman Bros. analyst Todd Mitchell. The company ended the quarter with 1.7 million owned subscriptions. In the first quarter, TiVo expects to generate service and technology revenue in the range of $57 million to $58 million. Respondents to Thomson Financial's poll had expected a revenue figure of $58.1 million.
Culp 3Q Losses 19c/Share Vs 19c
(4:35 PM ET) SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch)--Culp Inc.said its third quarter net loss widened slightly to $2.2 million from $2.17 million. The High Point, N.C.-based company's loss per share for the quarter was unchanged at 19 cents a share. Excluding restructuring charges, Culp reported a loss of a penny a share in the latest period. Quarterly net sales fell to $55.7 million from $61 million. For the fourth quarter, Culp, which makes upholstery fabrics, said it expects to earn 7 cents to 11 cents a share, excluding items, with sales down slightly from last year.
Coldwater Creek quarterly profit falls slightly; revenue up
(4:32 PM ET) SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Coldwater Creek Inc.late Wednesday reported fourth-quarter net earnings of $15.9 million, or 17 cents a share, down slightly from $16.4 million, or 17 cents a share, during the same period a year ago. The Sandpoint, Idaho-based retailer posted revenue of $366.6 million vs. $283.9 million. Analysts polled by Thomson Financial had forecast fourth-quarter earnings of 17 cents a share on revenue of $343 million. Same-store sales rose 2.3% for the three-month period ended Feb. 3, the company said.
National Medical Health second-quarter net falls
(4:27 PM ET) SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- National Medical Health Card Systems Inc.'ssecond-quarter net income fell 48.3% to $1.5 million, from $2.9 million for the same period last year. On a per-share basis, the net loss available to common stockholders was breakeven, swinging from a profit of 24 cents. The pharmacy benefit manager said revenue for the period ended Dec. 31 decreased 9.4% to $199.3 million from $219.9 million.
Nastech Pharmaceutical Posts Wider Quarterly Loss
(4:19 PM ET) SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch)-- Nastech Pharmaceutical Co.reported its fourth quarter loss widened to $10.7 million, or 50 cents a share, from $8.9 million, or 44 cents a share, a year earlier. Analysts had predicted a loss of 47 cents a share for the quarter, according to a Thomson Financial poll. Revenue rose to $4.8 million from $1.3 million.
Casey's General Stores quarterly profit, revenue jump
(4:17 PM ET) SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Casey's General Stores Inc. /zigman2/quotes/208156554/composite CASY +3.21% late Wednesday reported third-quarter net earnings of $11.2 million, or 22 cents a share, up from $6.95 million, or 14 cents a share, during the year-ago period. Earnings from continuing operations were 22 cents a share compared with 15 cents a share. The Ankeny, Iowa-based convenience store operator posted total revenue of $923 million vs. $798.3 million last year. Analysts polled by Thomson Financial had forecast third-quarter earnings of 22 cents a share on revenue of $952 million. The company said its results were driven by double-digit sales increases in every business category.
Zumiez Feb same-store sales up 12.4%
(4:09 PM ET) SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Zumiez Inc. /zigman2/quotes/210420137/composite ZUMZ +6.86% on Wednesday said its February sales at stores open at least a year increased 12.4%. Analysts, on average, expected the retailer to post a same-store sales increase of 7.1%, according to a survey by Thomson Financial. Total net sales for the four-week period ended March 3 increased 43.9% to $20.7 million, from $14.4 million for the four-week period ended Feb. 25, 2006.
Analogic quarterly earnings, revenue fall
(3:13 PM ET) SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Analogic Corp.on Wednesday reported second-quarter net earnings of $5.42 million, or 39 cents a share, down from $29.7 million, or $2.16 a share, during the year-ago period. Excluding certain items, earnings from continuing operations were $5.42 million, or 39 cents a share, compared with $9.1 million, or 66 cents a share. Last year's results included $20.6 million, or $1.50 a share, of income attributable to a gain on disposal of discontinued operations. The Peabody, Mass.-based manufacturer of health and security imaging equipment posted net revenue of $88.4 million vs. $100 million. Analysts surveyed by Thomson Financial had forecast second-quarter earnings of 24 cents a share on revenue of $84 million.
Plato Learning shares fall as quarterly loss widens
(1:32 PM ET) SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Plato Learning Inc.shares fell 16% to $4.21 in Wednesday afternoon trade. Late Tuesday, the Minneapolis-based provider of computer-based educational products reported a fiscal first-quarter net loss of $4.53 million, or 19 cents a share, compared with a net loss of $3.2 million, or 14 cents a share, in the year-ago period. Revenue fell to $17 million from $23.5 million. The company expects fiscal 2007 revenue in the mid-$70 million range and for its net loss to approximate its 2006 net loss excluding restructuring, impairment and other charges.
America's Car-Mart shares leap after third-quarter report
(1:24 PM ET) NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- America's Car-Mart Inc. /zigman2/quotes/207433331/composite CRMT +8.68% shares jumped 14% to $12.13 on Wednesday after the Bentonville, Ark., automotive retailer swung to a loss for the third quarter but said it still expects to be profitable in the fourth quarter. The company lost $50,000 for the three months ended Jan. 31 on revenue of $59.3 million. It added that it's seen a dramatic reduction in its accounts over 30 days due and that it's encouraged by the continuation of this trend into February.
Rocky Brands swings to a loss; shares fall
(10:46 AM ET) SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Rocky Brands Inc. /zigman2/quotes/200188058/composite RCKY +2.41% shares tumbled 20% to $11.01 in Wednesday morning trade after the Nelsonville, Ohio-based footwear company reported a fourth-quarter net loss of $77,875, or a penny a share. In the same quarter last year, Rocky Brands posted a net profit of $2.61 million, or 46 cents a share. Revenue fell to $70.6 million from $74.9 million. The company expects fiscal 2007 earnings per share growth of 35%, and revenue growth of 5%.
EFJ shares fall on fourth-quarter results, outlook
(10:38 AM ET) SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- EFJ Inc.shares fell 14% to $5.48 in Wednesday morning trade after the Irving, Texas-based wireless company reported a fourth-quarter net loss of $7.79 million, or 30 cents a share. In the same quarter last year, the company posted a net profit of $15.4 million, or 59 cents a share. Revenue fell to $23.9 million from $29.8 million. Analysts polled by Thomson Financial were expecting a per-share loss of 8 cents on revenue of $31.3 million. Separately, EFJ forecast fiscal 2007 revenue of $185 million to $195 million and operating income of $7 million to $10 million.
Cheesecake Factory sets 10 mln shr buyback
(9:14 AM ET) NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- The Cheesecake Factory Inc. /zigman2/quotes/207909209/composite CAKE +12.18% said Wednesday it'll buy back 10 million shares of stock worth about $266 million based on its closing price Tuesday of $26.63 a share. The Calabasas Hills, Calif. will ink an agreement to repurchase $200 million of its shares of common stock through a broker-dealer in an accelerated share repurchase transaction. The company plans to secure a revolving credit facility in the amount of $200 million to replace a temporary credit facility.
