U.S. stocks open lower ahead of Pelosi's potential visit to Taiwan

U.S. stocks opened lower Tuesday as investors watch for U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's potential visit to Taiwan amid tensions between China and the U.S. The Dow Jones Industrial Average (DOW:DJIA) was trading down 0.4% soon after the opening bell, while the S&P 500 (S&P:SPX) fell 0.3% and the Nasdaq Composite (NASDAQ:COMP) dropped 0.6%, according to FactSet data, at last check. Pelosi was expected to arrive in Taiwan Tuesday despite warnings from China against visiting , according to an Associated Press report. A White House spokesman said Monday that the U.S. "will not be intimidated" by China's opposition to Pelosi's potential visit.
