U.S. stocks traded higher in the final hour of trading on Wednesday with Dow climbing over 450 points and Nasdaq attempting to snap a seven-day losing streak. The Dow Jones Industrial Average /zigman2/quotes/210598065/realtime DJIA +0.45% was up by 1.5% and the S&P 500 /zigman2/quotes/210599714/realtime SPX -0.03% gained by around 1.9%, while the Nasdaq Composite /zigman2/quotes/210598365/realtime COMP -0.52% advanced 2.2%. The Fed's Beige Book survey showed the U.S. economy grew slightly through the end of August, but the outlook for future economic growth "remained generally weak" because of rising interest rates and nagging labor and supply shortages. Federal Reserve Vice Chair Lael Brainard, the No.2 official at the central bank, said that the Fed will need to raise the policy rate further and keep them at high levels for some time to help bring inflation down.
