Vistra Energy sub to close waste coal plant in Pennsylvania, affecting less than 25 jobs

Vistra Energy Corp. subsidiary Luminant said Friday it has filed for the suspension of operations of its waste coal facility in McAdoo, Penn., citing "uneconomic operations and negative financial outlook." The company estimates that less than 25 full-time jobs will be lost by the closing of the facility. Luminant expects the plant to close in late 2018. Vistra's stock edged up 0.1% in morning trade. It has lost 6.6% year to date, while the SPDR Energy Select Sector ETF /zigman2/quotes/206420077/composite XLE -1.06% has slipped 2.7% and the S&P 500 /zigman2/quotes/210599714/realtime SPX -1.51% has gained 7.2%.
