About 90 million stimulus payments worth a total of more than $242 billion have been disbursed so far, said a news release on Wednesday from the Treasury Department, the Internal Revenue Service and the Bureau of the Fiscal Service. "The first batch of payments were mostly sent by direct deposit, which some recipients started receiving this past weekend," the release said. "As of today, all recipients of this first batch of direct deposit payments will have access to their funds." Most Americans are expected to get a $1,400 stimulus check through the $1.9 trillion COVID-19 relief package that was signed into law last week.
