The broad-market S&P 500 on Tuesday posted its first back-to-back gains, with all 11 sectors finishing higher. The S&P 500 index (S&P:SPX) ended the day with a gain of 2.1% to reach about 4,687, on a preliminary basis, representing the best day for the benchmark since March 1, powered by an advance in information technology (PSE:XLK) energy (PSE:XLE) , and consumer discretionary shares (PSE:XLY) .
