BEIJING--China's exports in the first quarter rose 38.7% from a year earlier in yuan terms, compared with a 50.1% increase recorded in the January-February period, the General Administration of Customs said Tuesday.

In yuan terms, the country's imports rose 19.3% from the prior year, compared with 14.5% growth in the first two months, the customs bureau said.

China recorded a trade surplus of 759.3 billion yuan ($115.94 billion) in the first three months, official data showed. The customs bureau will release trade data in dollar terms later today.
