‘In these difficult times that seem to get more difficult and complicated by the day, I just found out that I am positive for coronavirus.’
That’s CNN anchor Chris Cuomo announcing on Twitter /zigman2/quotes/203180645/composite TWTR +3.23% on Tuesday that he has contracted COVID-19 but will push forward with his “Cuomo Prime Time” show.
“I have been exposed to people in recent days who have subsequently tested positive, and I had fevers, chills and shortness of breath,” he continued . “I just hope I didn’t give it to the kids and Cristina. That would make me feel worse than this illness!”
Cuomo was most recently at CNN’s offices in the new Hudson Yards neighborhood of New York City last Friday, the network reported . He anchored from his home on Monday, and interviewed his brother, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, in a chat that was widely shared on social media.
Here’s a snippet from that interview:
On Tuesday morning, Andrew Cuomo talked about his “best friend” during his briefing.
New York now has about 75,000 cases with at least 914 deaths. The U.S. tally, according to Johns Hopkins University, stands at 164,785 cases with at least 3,173 deaths, which means that the death toll has surpassed the number of people who died in the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.
Worldwide, there are now 803,650 cases with at least 39,033 deaths.
CNN, with its anchors broadcasting from small studios and home offices, said this is the third case of coronavirus at its New York City workplace.
