MedQuist Inc. shares surged almost 27% after the provider of clinical documentation services said it would pay a special dividend of $4.70 a share.
Repsol YPF SA’s U.S.-listed shares rose 6.8% after the Spanish energy firm said China Petroleum & Chemical Corp. /zigman2/quotes/202783176/composite SNP +0.19% would buy a stake in its Brazilian subsidiary for $7.1 billion. Christopher Banks Corp. shares declined 15.7% after the women’s apparel seller late Thursday reported financial results for the second quarter ended Aug. 28 that came in shy of expectations. The company also provided a forecast for the third quarter of fiscal 2011.
DynaVox Inc. shares fell 33% after the maker of speech software for use by people with language impairments took back its forecast for fiscal 2011.
Fidelity National Financial Inc. /zigman2/quotes/207569682/composite FNF +0.33% shares dropped 4.3% following a report that a recent spate of halted mortgage foreclosures could call into question millions of property titles. Fidelity is a market leader in title insurance. Shares of fellow title-insurance firm First American Financial Corp. /zigman2/quotes/210452372/composite FAF -1.57% also dropped, down 6%.
Green Mountain Coffee Roasters Inc. fell an additional 5.2%. Shares have been battered since Wednesday and are down 23% for the week, following the announcement of a Securities and Exchange Commission probe into how the coffee company accounts for revenue.
Teekay Tankers Ltd. /zigman2/quotes/202990483/composite TNK +0.60% shares declined 7.8% after the oil-tanker operator said it would sell 8.2 million shares to pay down debt.
