BERLIN — The German government says Chancellor Angela Merkel has received her second dose of vaccine against COVID-19.
The government said Tuesday that Merkel was vaccinated a few days ago. The 66-year-old received a first shot of the AstraZeneca /zigman2/quotes/203048482/delayed UK:AZN -0.33% /zigman2/quotes/200304487/composite AZN -0.30% vaccine on April 16. For the second shot, she received the Moderna /zigman2/quotes/205619834/composite MRNA +7.26% vaccine.
Germany recommended in April that younger people who have received a first dose of AstraZeneca should switch to a different vaccine for the second shot.
