Add another Republican name to the list of those endorsing Democrat Joe Biden for president: former Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder.

‘He is a bully.’

Rick Snyder on President Donald Trump

Writing in a USA Today op-ed titled “I am a Republican vote for Biden,” Snyder called President Donald Trump a “bully” who doesn’t appreciate public health, the economy and foreign relations.

Snyder doesn’t plan to stop being a Republican, he wrote. He just won’t be supporting the current Republican president. “We need a leader who believes in civility and bringing Americans closer together,” Snyder wrote.

The former governor, who served from 2011 to 2018, is part of a new group called Republicans and Independents for Biden , whose other members include former New Jersey Gov. Christine Todd Whitman and former Massachusetts Gov. Bill Weld. Whitman heads the group.

Republicans including former Ohio Gov. John Kasich were a highlight of this year’s Democratic convention, where they spoke in favor of Biden. The Republican convention also featured some Democrats who are crossing over to support Trump, though none among them were governors or senators. Speakers at the GOP event included ex-Democratic Rep. Jeff Van Drew of New Jersey and Bob Vlaisavljevich, the mayor of Eveleth, Minn.
