HBO Max has an intriguing lineup of new comedy series in July 2022, to go with a spinoff of a fan-favorite teen drama and a slate of movie favorites.

Master of awkward comedy Nathan Fielder (“Nathan for You”) is back with a new series, “The Rehearsal” (July 15), in which he’ll help people prepare for major life events by “rehearsing” them through staged simulations of his own design. What could possibly go awry?

Issa Rae (“Insecure”) has also created a new comedy series, “Rap Sh!t” (July 21), about two best friends in Miami (played by Aida Osman and KaMillion) who try to launch a rap career; the excellent and very adult “Harley Quinn” (July 28) returns for its third season of animated supervillainy; and the New Zealand sci-fi/horror mockumentary “Wellington Paranormal” (July 28) premieres its fourth and final season just a month after Season 3 came out on Max.

Meanwhile, “Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin” (July 28) is essentially a sequel to the original hit teen drama, set in the same town of Millwood, about a group of disparate teen girls tormented by a mysterious figure who wants them to pay for the sins of their parents. Episodes will be released weekly in batches, with the first three dropping on the 28th.
