Moderna Inc. /zigman2/quotes/205619834/composite MRNA -0.96% provided on Tuesday an update of the supply of its COVID-19 vaccine, saying it expects to deliver 100 million doses to the U.S. Government by the end of March. The company said it moved up the expected delivery of its second 100 million doses to the end of May from the end of June, and its third 100 million doses to the end of July, from the end of September. To date, the company said it has delivered 45.4 million doses of its vaccine, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said about 25.5 million doses of the vaccine have been administered. Moderna's vaccine requires two doses, spaced weeks apart. Moderna said it does not plan to stockpile significant quantities of doses to smooth shipments, as it has chosen to ship doses to the government as they are produced. Moderna's stock, which edged up 0.1% in premarket trading, has soared 87.6% over the past three months through Friday, while the S&P 500 /zigman2/quotes/210599714/realtime SPX -0.16% has gained 8.5%.
