On the tech front, IBM /zigman2/quotes/203856914/composite IBM -1.99% shares are down on mixed earnings . HP /zigman2/quotes/203461582/composite HPQ -2.66% is up after the PC maker boosted its dividend and laid out a bullish forecast, though it warned of supply-chain issues .
Shares of Pfizer /zigman2/quotes/202877789/composite PFE -1.60% and German partner BioNTech /zigman2/quotes/214419716/composite BNTX +0.26% are up after the pair said a a late-stage trial of a COVID-19 vaccine booster shot showed 95.6% efficacy .
Shares of Evergrande /zigman2/quotes/222823968/delayed HK:6666 +2.68% plunged 13% in Hong Kong after the troubled Chinese property giant said a deal to sell its property management arm to a smaller rival had collapsed.
Data showed weekly jobless claims falling, while the Philadelphia Federal Reserve manufacturing index came in slightly under expectations. Existing home sales and leading economic indicators are still to come.
